ABU DHABI — As part of the country’s efforts to return to normal following the coronavirus pandemic, the UAE government on Monday announced that starting July 5 all public sector employees will be returning to their offices at 100 percent capacity. Only individuals with chronic illnesses have been exempted from attending offices provided a medical report approved by the competent authorities is submitted, the announcement said. Previously, some other categories of employees were exempted from going to office. These included pregnant women, the elderly, and female employees with children in grade 9 and below, among others. All employees must adhere to the preventative measures at all times, including maintaining social distancing and wearing a mask, the government added. The UAE last week announced the completion of the nationwide sterilization program and the lifting of the nighttime curfew. However, the ban on entering the capital Abu Dhabi is still in place, but residents in the city can move within the emirate’s borders. — Agencies
