RIYADH — The General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises (Monshaat) in partnership with King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) has selected 20 research projects for introducing them to the Saudi market for commercial use. As part of the partnership, owners of the selected projects will get individual consulting sessions from Monshaat’s experts in preparation for introducing these projects in the market as small enterprises. Monshaat analyzed 151 scientific projects that qualified for the final fair of the National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity (Ibdaa 2020) and selected these 20 projects from among them, based on the criteria of clarity of the innovative product and the ability to woo investment as small enterprises. The selected projects are covering different fields, including materials science, environmental engineering, physical energy, robots and smart devices, chemical energy, biomedicine and health sciences, software systems, chemistry in addition to botany. After the students complete entrepreneurial skills training and learn how to convert their research and scientific projects into commercial enterprises as part of the partnership project between Monshaat, Mawhiba and the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, Monshaat will provide services and consultative sessions to them in the coming days. The partnership between Mawhiba, Monshaat and the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property will expand after benefiting from this experience to include all students of Mawhiba to enhance their skills and support them to convert their projects and researches into projects of economic value in the future. Mawhiba seeks to enhance the reliance on mind, intellect, talent and creativity to achieve the objectives of the Kingdom"s Vision 2030, and achieve what came in the second axis of it, which is redoubling efforts to ensure that the outcomes of our education system are in line with market need.
