Oman reports 1,099 new coronavirus cases, 6 deaths

MUSCAT — Oman on Thursday recorded 1,099 new cases of coronavirus and six more virus-related deaths, the Sultanate’s health ministry said in a statement carried by state news agency BNA. Of the new case, 979 were Omani citizens and the remaining 120 were expatriates from different countries. This brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections to 72,646 and 355 fatalities in the Sultanate, according to the ministry. The ministry also said that a total of 3,427 more patients have completely recovered from the deadly disease, taking the total number of recoveries in the country to 51,349. A total of 3,344 additional coronavirus tests were conducted in the past 24 hours and 80 more cases were hospitalized over the past 24 hours, the ministry pointed out. It added that 589 patients are currently hospitalized, of them 169 are in intensive care units.
