MUSCAT — Oman’s single-day new coronavirus infections fell below 1,000-mark on Tuesday as it reported 846 new cases over the past 24 hours, raising the total to 77,904, according to a statement from the health ministry carried by Oman News Agency. Of the new cases, 771 were Omani citizens and 75 were expatriates from different countries. Meanwhile, nine more patients succumbed to the deadly virus, taking the total number of fatalities in the Sultanate to 402. The health ministry also said that a total of 1,559 more people recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country so far to 58,587. On Monday, Oman’s Sultan by Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq Al-Said issued a royal decree extending the Eid Al-Adha holiday for another three days as the country seeks to curb the surge in coronavirus cases. Oman on Saturday imposed a nationwide curfew from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. in an effort to slow the spread of the virus.
