ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates on Tuesday reported 369 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 59,546, the Ministry of Health and Prevention said in a statement carried by state news agency WAM. The newly infected patients, who are all stable and receiving the necessary medical treatment, were detected after the ministry carried out over 43,000 additional COVID-19 tests in the country over the last 24 hours, the statement said. The aim of the intense testing drive is to facilitate the early detection of coronavirus cases, isolate and provide the necessary treatment for the infected, as well as assess those who they came in contact with, the statement added. The ministry also announced that two more patients died due to complications caused by COVID-19, taking the total number of virus-related fatalities to 347. The ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and wished current COVID-19 patients a speedy and full recovery. It also announced the recovery of an additional 395 individuals from the virus, raising the total number of recoveries in the country so far to 52,905. The ministry called on the public to cooperate with health authorities and adhere to social distancing protocols and preventative measures to ensure the health and safety of all.
