MANAMA — A court in Bahrain has convicted a man infected with coronavirus of deliberately seeking to transmit the infection to doctors, and sentenced him to three years in prison, Bahrain’s news agency reported on Wednesday. The man, who was diagnosed with the virus, deliberately removed his face mask and sneezed in front of doctors working in the center. He also sneezed into his hands and then touched doctors in an attempt to transmit the virus to them, according to the Public Health Directorate. He also coughed into his hand and touched the doctors, the directorate claimed, in an effort to pass the virus to them. The man was also fined 1,000 Bahraini dinars (SR9,800 approximately) by the court. Bahrain has confirmed 40,311 cases of the virus, with 36,920 recoveries and 145 deaths. More than 30 people have been investigated for breaching coronavirus isolation rules in the kingdom. Those who disobeyed quarantine restrictions faced either a minimum of three months in jail, a fine ranging from 1,000 to 10,000 Bahraini dinars, or a combination of both. The Minor Criminal Court also ordered the unidentified convict of paying a fine of 1,000 Bahraini dinars, public prosecution Chief Adnan Al Wadai said. Agencies
