RIYADH: Majid Al-Qasabi, Saudi Arabia’s acting minister of media, says that the Kingdom is acting to prevent human trafficking through the enactment of internal laws and accession to international instruments aimed at combating the crime. This came in his speech on the occasion of World Day against Trafficking in Persons, which falls on July 30 each year. Al-Qasabi said that trafficking was one of the most heinous crimes that violated human rights and deprived people of their freedom and dignity, and was prohibited in all religions, constitutions and global covenants. The media sector had an effective and influential role to play in reducing and combating trafficking, he said.
