DUBAI: In celebration of her newest single, “Holiday” with Little Mix bandmates Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson, singer Jade Thirlwall has posted a string of adorable childhood throwbacks on Instagram. The 2011 “X-Factor” finalist, whose maternal grandfather is Yemeni and maternal grandmother Egyptian, strategically chose nine photographs of her childhood holidays to post to her 6.6 million Instagram followers. The series of images, simply captioned “‘Holiday’ out now,” show the singer posing in various sun-filled locales with her family, rocking braids and sipping on mocktails. In one of the pictures posted, Thirlwall can be seen on stage holding a microphone with what appears to be back-up dancers behind her. “I need to know what ur singing in pic 5 (sic),” commented British recording artist MNEK, to which the Little Mix star replied: “wanna say Am To PM Christina Milian but it was On The Beach by Cliff Richard (sic).” Naturally, the singer’s fans were quick to gush over the adorable throwback images, taking to the comments section to share their admiration for the star. “These photos are something I didn’t know I needed until now,” wrote one user. Another commented: “You were adorable back then and you’re adorable now.” The 27-year-old singer, who was born in the UK, made her debut with girl group Little Mix in 2011. Thirlwall has released five albums with the group, including their debut album “DNA” in 2012, which sold just under 60 million records worldwide, placing Little Mix in the top five of the best selling girl groups of all time. “Holiday” is the second single from Little Mix’s new era. The band shot the visual for the new song while socially-distanced in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. "It was a very bizarre experience,” said Perrie speaking on the Capital Evening Show with Jimmy Hill. “It was like, everybody had to fill out forms, everybody had to wear masks and visors who were on set, there was only a certain number of people on set. We had to get our temperature taken. We had to stay far away from each other, and they are going to somehow superimpose it.”
