Al-Baha governor inaugurates orphan care group

AL-BAHA: Prince Hussam bin Saud bin Abdul Aziz, governor of Al-Baha region, has inaugurated the Rafiq Association for Orphan Care in Al-Mikhwah to serve over 300 villages and sponsor more than 270 orphans. The move came during a reception Prince Hussam held for Al-Mikhwah Gov. Naif bin Mohammed Al-Hazani; Saad Al-Omari, chairman of the Rafiq Association for Orphan Care; and board members. Al-Omari said the association develops the capabilities of orphans so they can become active members of society, achieving sustainable development in accordance with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. He added that the association provides financial and moral support to orphans and their families, in addition to helping orphans enter the job market. The association provides services to over 300 villages in Al-Mikhwah governorate, sponsors over 270 orphans and widows, and provides them with social, educational and health services. Expenditures during the past year exceeded SR750,000 ($200,000), which was distributed through programs, including food provision, Eid clothing and sacrifice, in addition to operational expenses. Al-Omari reviewed Rafiq’s role in fighting the coronavirus pandemic in partnership with the Al-Hussam Center for Humanitarian Services and Volunteer Work. Following the reception, the governor praised the association’s efforts in serving orphans and widows in Al-Mikhwah, in light of support provided by the government of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
