RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Zakat and Tax (GAZT) has bagged a top award for being committed to the standards of the European institutional excellence model. General Authority of Zakat and Tax (GAZT) has recently received a "Committed to excellence" 2 Star certificate from the European Organization for Quality Management (EFQM). EFQM is a not-for-profit membership foundation in Brussels, established in 1989 to increase the competitiveness of the European economy. The EFQM excellence model is a non-prescriptive business excellence framework for organizational management, promoted by the EFQM and designed to help organizations to become more competitive. “GAZT is making every effort to improve the institutional performance by developing its business system and raising the professional competence of its workers,” said Suhail bin Mohammed Abanmi, governor of GAZT. “The continuous development of the authority’s institutional performance aims to improve the quality of zakat and tax services provided to the taxpayers in the Kingdom and to provide them with all tools and support resources in order to enable them to fulfill their zakat and tax obligations,” GAZT governor added. GAZT recently obtained two certificates from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for affirming the effectiveness of quality control systems and for dealing with complaints and increasing customer satisfaction.
