RIYADH — The General Authority for Ports (MAWANI) announced Thursday that the exemption period of fees for exported and imported general cargo storage will be increased to 21 days instead of five days, starting from Jan. 9, 2020. This decision aims to strengthen partnership with the private sector, ensure business continuity and overcome difficulties that beneficiaries might face in the port sector, in addition to attracting transit ships and increasing the market share of trade worldwide, which will contribute to supporting the national economy. It is worth noting that this initiative comes as a continuation of a series of initiatives launched by MAWANI, with the aim of strengthening partnership with the private sector and companies operating in Saudi ports and increasing their contribution by investing in this vital sector. — SPA
