DUBAI — “Emirati Women’s Day is a special national occasion to commemorate the gains and accomplishments of Emirati women in all fields. They have successfully consolidated their presence in business and economy and reinforced their position as one of the most significant components of sustainable development,” said Dr. Raja Al Gurg, president of Dubai Business Women Council (DBWC) on the occasion of Emirati Women’s Day. On this day, Emirati women reaffirm their allegiance to the wise leadership for the care and empowerment given to women in education, business, and community involvement, she added. “At DBWC, we strongly believe in the role of women in enhancing business activity and their ability to innovate, as well as their active contribution to labor market. They have succeeded in making their ambitions a reality in terms of resolve and determination and as a key partner in the development process,” she said. The President of DBWC expressed her optimism about the future of the Emirati woman, thanks to the directives of Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, chairwoman of the General Women"s Union (GWU), president of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and supreme chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) to celebrate the day under the slogan "Preparing for the next fifty years: Women are the support of the nation". This slogan is a road map for every Emirati woman to prove herself and her ability to play an active role in the nation’s journey and to effectively contribute to establishing businesses and enhancing their role in making economic decisions. Al Gurg pointed out the establishment of the DBWC in 2002 came to reaffirm the lofty message carried by every woman in the Emirate of Dubai. It’s also a reflection of the importance of women’s role in serving her nation and achieving professional and institutional success. “The DBWC has become a perfect platform for businesswomen to connect and develop their projects and skills, thanks to the presence of Emirati businesswomen who demonstrated their capability and shared their experiences with other businesswomen in Dubai to help them boost their skills and capabilities,” she concluded. — SG
