Drop seen in UAE's new corona cases

ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates on Sunday announced three new deaths from coronavirus, a jump from recent days that brings the death toll to 382. However, during the past 24 hours, health authorities only registered 362 new COVID-19 cases, down from 470 on Saturday and 390 on Friday. The new cases bring the total number to 69,690, of which 60,600 have recovered after 398 more patients were discharged in the previous 24 hours. Authorities have carried out 87,955 tests. The number of active cases across the country currently stand at 8,708. Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates has reopened mosques and places of worship in industrial cities and labor sites across the country after months of closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a statement from government entities. The General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments and National Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) both said that a decision was reached for the gradual reopening of mosques and places of worship in those sites with several precautionary and preventative measures against coronavirus. Capacity at all those sites will be limited to 30 percent, both government entities said.
