The decision to open international flights through Saudi airports is still on hold, especially with the return of a surge in coronavirus infection cases in some global travel destinations, such as France, Britain, Germany, Australia, Singapore and South Korea. While Saudi Arabia is working hard to control the spread of infection, as its daily figures are showing remarkable success, we have to understand that taking the risk of easing the precautionary measures might result in an unwanted setback. Hence, the resumption of international travel activity might take a longer period, with the exception of tourist travel! However, the economy has its opinion that cannot be ignored longer on this issue. International travel might return the way commercial activities have resumed, while maintaining strict mandatory precautionary measures. In the end, many concerns and fears can be confronted by taking the necessary precautions and benefiting from the experiences of countries that have opened their airports and resumed their flights. Furthermore, there are interests for persons and commercial entities related to travel and there is an urgent need for the resumption of international air traffic that must be taken into account! Personally, I consider the decision to travel in such circumstances to be a purely personal decision, provided the person bears the responsibility for its consequences. This should be in such a way that the citizen does not travel abroad unless he is fully aware that he will bear full responsibility for his decision. So he should not burden the Saudi embassies abroad with demands for his return, nor should he deplete public funds when the pandemic condition in the country he is residing in gets worse! In brief, everything in the world seems to be pinning all hopes on the discovery of a vaccine for “COVID-19”, and all that humanity is doing today is just buying time!
