Saudi Arabia’s General Auditing Bureau has launched a new identity, which is aimed at developing its supervisory role and raise its professional performance to meet the goals of Vision 2030. Dr. Hussam Al-Anqari, head of the GAB, said during a ceremony on Sunday that the launching of the new identity coincided with the issuance of the royal decree approving the amendment of a number of the articles of the Diwan system, and the approval of its new name, “which reflects the interest of the wise leadership in developing the supervisory apparatus, and an affirmation of the importance of its tasks and roles.” He continued: “The Bureau is currently sponsoring a set of financial programs concerned with developing the performance of the analog agencies worldwide. The Bureau has a special program to monitor the implementation of the sustainable development goals at the international level, in which it provides financial and knowledge support, in cooperation with the INTOSAI initiative for development, as well as a special program to support the supreme bodies of public financial supervision and accounting in developing countries.” He added that the Bureau was looking forward to a new stage that keeps pace with the developments and rapid growth at all levels. Anqari stated that over the past five years, the GAB has implemented a number of initiatives, including the completion of the bureau’s digital building system. He stressed that the bureau now has two electronic platforms: the electronic monitoring system (Shamel), through which it connects with the covered entities and performs the reviews electronically; and the “Document” (Wathiqa) platform, which is an electronic library of government documents.
