KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait on Thursday detected 740 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 92,882, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health carried by the Kuwait News Agency. The ministry also announced four more deaths from complications caused by COVID-19, taking the total number of virus-related fatalities to 556. According to the ministry"s spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, there are 9,226 patients who are receiving necessary medical care in hospitals, out of whom 90 are in intensive care units. The spokesman also said the ministry conducted as many as 5,384 coronavirus tests over the past 24 hours, pushing the total number COVID-19 examinations in the country to 663,135. Dr. Al-Sanad reiterated the strict need to abide by health precautions, urging nationals and expatriates alike that following social distancing rules is the only way to keep the virus at bay. Earlier in the day, the ministry said 818 people have recovered from the virus, upping the total number of those who overcame the deadly disease to 83,040.
