Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday he was upset by news that Libyas Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj decided to step down. Sarraj announced on Wednesday his intention to step down by the end of October. "A development like this, hearing such news, has been upsetting for us," Erdogan told reporters in Istanbul, Reuters reported. Sarraj is head of the Government of National Accord (GNA), based in Tripoli, while eastern Libya and much of the south is controlled by Khalifa Haftars Libyan National Army (LNA). This came following recent meetings between the Libyan parties in Montreux, Switzerland, during which they agreed to hold elections within 18 months and form a government of national unity.
