Saudi Arabia registers 551 new cases, 28 deaths

RIYADH — An additional 28 people in Saudi Arabia have died of COVID-19-related conditions, authorities announced on Saturday. The total number of deaths now stands at 4,458, Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdel Ali, spokesman of the health ministry, was quoted by Saudi Press Agency (SPA) as saying. Tests have confirmed 551 new cases in the Kingdom, which means that 329,271 people have contracted the disease. Of those, 15,383 cases remain active, and 1,166 patients are in critical condition. According to the spokesman, the total number of recoveries in the Kingdom increased to 309,430 after 1,078 more patients recovered from the virus. Jeddah reported the highest daily detected cases on Saturday with 51 new infections, followed by Makkah with 50 cases, Madinah with 42, Hufof with 37, Yanbu with 31, Riyadh with 29, with 24 each in Al-Mobarraz and Baljarshi. The remaining cases were reported in different cities and governorates across the Kingdom, Dr. Al-Abdel Ali said.
