ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates on Friday saw its highest daily total of coronavirus infections since the outbreak of the pandemic, with 1,181 new cases, surpassing Thursday and Wednesday"s record of 1,158 and 1,100 cases respectively, to a statement from the country"s Ministry of Health and Prevention carried by state news agency WAM. The ministry also announced three deaths due to COVID-19 complications over the past 24 hours. This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the UAE to 96,529 and virus-related fatalities to 424. The new patients, all of who are in a stable condition, and are receiving the necessary care, were detected after the ministry conducted 107,187 additional COVID-19 tests over the past 24 hours, using state-of-the-art medical testing equipment. The ministry stressed in the statement its aim to continue expanding the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection of coronavirus cases and carry out the necessary treatment. The ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased and wished COVID-19 patients a speedy and full recovery, calling on all members of the society to cooperate with health authorities, adhere to the instructions and physical distance to ensure the health and safety of all. Meanwhile, an additional 1,168 individuals fully recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 86,071 in the country, according to the ministry.
