RIYADH — Saudi Arabia"s Ministry of Health (MoH) has called on some groups of patients to postpone the performing of Umrah and visit to the Grand Holy Mosque. Through an awareness infographic published on its Twitter page and its awareness platform “Live Well”, MoH said that these groups include people who suffer from uncontrolled diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, cirrhosis, and coronary artery disease, and were admitted to a hospital in the last six months. The groups also include people who suffer from cardiac insufficiency, immunodeficiency, chronic chest diseases, and were admitted to a hospital in the last year, in addition to pregnant women. MoH holds activities on World Sight Day 2020 The Ministry organized a number of activities on the occasion of World Sight Day 2020 under the slogan “ Towards Better Sight” which is celebrated annually on 10 October by the World Health Organization (WHO). The activities aim at raising awareness about the importance of blindness prevention, raising the level of health awareness of eye health and safety among all community members by highlighting common eye diseases and methods of treatment and prevention, as well as enabling everyone to have access to comprehensive eye care services. It is worth noting that at least 2.2 billion people have a vision impairment or blindness, of whom at least one billion have a vision impairment that could have been prevented or has yet to be addressed. Additionally, nearly 90% of blind people live in developing countries. — SPA
