ACCD to hold a webinar conference entitled ‘COVID-19 Pandemic and Child Rights’

CAIRO — Under the auspices of Prince Abdulaziz Bin Talal, president of the Arab Council for Childhood and Development (ACCD), and in the context of the celebration of the World Children"s Day, ACCD is organizing a Webinar Conference entitled "COVID-19 Pandemic and Child Rights" under the Slogan "COVID-19 Pandemic from Crisis to Opportunity" on Monday, Nov. 16, 2020. Dr. Hassan Al-Bilawi, secretary general of ACCD, stated that the aims of the Conference are; to shed a light on new challenging issues facing childhood due to COVID-19 pandemic; to promote dialogue on childhood issues in the Arab countries and the role of ACCD in this regard; and to contribute to tackling the current challenges through providing platforms and strengthening Arab communication. A number of representatives of international and regional organizations, and relevant experts, will speak at the Conference on topics related to the social, psychological and health impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on child rights in the Arab region, especially children in difficult circumstances: "Working children and refugees as a model". The conference"s speakers will also address issues on children"s education during the COVID-19 pandemic, the role of private sector and civil society in confronting these effects, and the technological capabilities in facing the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on children: challenges and opportunities. ACCD is an Arab regional non-governmental organization that has a legal entity and operating in the field of childhood under the presidency of Prince Abdulaziz. ACCD was founded in 1987 upon the initiative of the late Prince Talal Bin Abdulaziz, and a resolution issued by the Arab League"s Conference on "Childhood and Development" that was held in Tunisia in 1986. The headquarters of ACCD is Cairo, Egypt. ACCD is seeking to be a leading organization in the field of child rights in the Arab world, and a reference for institutions, individuals and families to raising of an Arab child able to participate in the development of his/her society.
