Prince Khalid and US envoy for Iran seek to preserve regional stability

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Defense Minister met with the United States Special Representative for Iran Elliott Abrams here on Tuesday. The meeting discussed cooperation between the two countries to strengthen the region"s stability and deal with threats to its security in a way that achieves common interests within the framework of the strategic partnership between the two countries. In a tweet early Wednesday, Prince Khalid said: “Had a productive meeting with Elliot Abrams, the US Special Representative for Iran. We discussed our mutual efforts to preserve regional stability, and ways to confront current security challenges, within the framework of our two countries" strategic partnership.” The meeting was attended by Saudi military Adviser to the Minister of Defense Major General Eng. Talal Bin Abdullah Al-Otaibi, Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed Bin Saeed Al Jaber, and Director-General of the Office of the Deputy Minister of Defense Hisham Bin Abdulaziz Ain Saif. US Ambassador to Saudi Arabia John Abizaid and the delegation accompanying the US special representative also attended the meeting.
