Jeddah —The 35th edition of Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) was officially launched on Tuesday, November 10, 2020. This year’s prestigious annual business event with the theme “Sustainable Trade in the Digital Era” in Indonesia is held online for the first time in its history. The largest international multi-product trade exhibition which runs from 10 through 16 of November is organized by the Indonesian Ministry of Trade with the support of relevant ministries and institutions in Indonesia. The virtual expo featuring trade, tourism, and investment (TTI) forums offers online networking, business matching and counseling opportunities. This year’s exhibitors are grouped into 5 sections comprising premium products and service, manufacturing products, furniture, and craft products, food and beverage products as well as fashion, accessories, and multi-products. As of October 31, 2020, as many as 1260 participants from around the globe have registered in the event, with 18 buyers coming from Saudi Arabia. As many as 322 buyers from Saudi Arabia, the third biggest number after Malaysia and China, attended the 34th TEI, while In TEI 2018, the buyers from Saudi Arabia recorded the highest transaction value. Indonesia has always looked to Saudi Arabia as a promising market for its products. The most populous Muslim-majority country has sought to tap into various business opportunities by engaging Saudi business persons with premium products and services, top manufacturing, furniture and craft products, food and beverage as well as fashion, accessories, and multi-products. Several months prior to the event, the trade and economic affairs team from the Indonesian consulate general in Jeddah had undertaken concerted efforts to attract potential buyers from the Kingdom to this event. The team led by the consul general, Eko Hartono, conducted business visits to the chambers of commerce and industry in several regions of the Kingdom. It also organized a series of campaign tours by partnering with relevant agencies and approaching local business persons to usher in the biggest annual trade event in Indonesia.
