ADDIS ABABA (Reuters) - Various African and European governments are pressing Ethiopia behind the scenes to start negotiations with the local rulers of Tigray state to end a nearly two-week conflict, diplomatic sources told Reuters on Monday. Hundreds have died in the crisis so far, according to both sides and security sources, but Ethiopia denied the Tigray leaders’ accusation that air strikes were targeting civilian locations.
