RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health recorded on Monday 301 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, marking the lowest single-day number in seven months since the outbreak of the pandemic in the Kingdom. Nineteen more patients died from complications caused by the virus over the past 24 hours, the statement added. This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 353,556 and virus-related fatalities to 5,676. The ministry also reported 364 new recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 340,668 with the recovery rate rising to 96.35 percent. All the cities in the Kingdom recorded less than 50 new cases with Riyadh registering 42, Hail 31, Yanbu and Makkah 23, Madinah 15, and Jeddah 12. The remaining cases were detected in different cities and governorates across the Kingdom. With the steady drop in the number of daily cases and the spike in recoveries, the active cases in the Kingdom also came down significantly with 7,212 reported on Thursday, and out of the total, 823 were critical cases. — SG
