Dr. Abdullah bin Omar Al-Najjar was appointed as a Shoura Council member on Oct. 19. King Salman issued a number of royal decrees last month, including for the restructuring of the Council of Senior Scholars, the Shoura Council and the Supreme Court. The king appointed 150 members to the Shoura Council for a period of four years and named Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Asheikh as the consultative assembly’s head. Al-Najjar obtained a bachelor’s degree in humanities studies from King Faisal University (KFU) in 1987. In 1990, he completed his master’s at Umm Al-Qura University in applied statistics. His Ph.D in the same field was completed at Ohio University in 1996. Building his career around teaching statistics, Al-Najjar continues to teach as a professor at King Faisal University. Previously, he served as KFU’s vice dean of academic affairs as well as dean of electronic education and e-learning. He also acted as the Saudi Electronic University’s (SEU) vice dean, as well as vice dean of academic affairs. Al-Najjar holds a membership of the KFU Saudi Association for Statistical Sciences. He was previously a member of the board at SEU. He was a member of many communities, including the Saudi Computer Society and the Computer Society for Management at King Saud University. Al-Najjar was also a member of the Saudi Association for Education and Psychology (GESTEN) in the US.
