Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah takes oath as prime minister of Kuwait

The people of Kuwait “have great ambitions for fulling the aspired objectives” by the new government DUBAI: Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah has taken his oath as prime minister of Kuwait on Monday after being reappointed by Kuwaiti ruler Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, state news agency KUNA has reported. The prime minister earlier submitted his government’s resignation in a procedural step following parliamentary polls. The Kuwaiti leader, during the oath-taking ceremony, said that the people of Kuwait “have great ambitions for fulling the aspired objectives” by the new government. Sheikh Nawaf noted that the new government would deal with a new phase marked with challenges and tasks of equal weight that warrant extraordinary efforts, diligent and faithful work in coordination with the parliament, KUNA reported. The ruler likewise signed a new government decree approving the new government with Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah as deputy prime minister and defense minister; Anas Khaled Al-Saleh as deputy prime minister and minister of state for cabinet affairs; Essa Ahmad Al-Kandari as minister of social affairs and minister of Awqaf and Islamic affairs; Dr. Mohammad Adbullatif Al-Fares as minister of oil as well as minister of electricity and water. Dr Basel Hmoud Al-Sabah was also named minister of health; Dr Ahmad Nasser Mohammad Al-Sabah as minister of foreign affairs; Dr. Rana Abdullah Al-Fares as minister of public works and minister of state for municipal affairs; Mubarak Salem Al-Harees as minister of state for national assembly affairs; Thamer Ali Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah as minister of interior; Khalifa Musa’ad Hamada as minister of finance. Also named as minister of information and minister of state for youth affairs was Abdulrahman Badah Al-Mutairi; Dr. Abdullah Abdulsamad Marafi as minister of state for housing affairs as well as minister of state for services; Dr. Ali Fahad Al-Mudhaf as minister of education and minister of higher education; Faisal Abdulrahman Al-Medlej as minister of commerce and industry and Dr. Nawaf Saud Al-Yassin as minister of justice.
