Egypt’s Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) announced that the interreligious dialogue conference will be held in Cairo at the beginning of next year. Observers believe the conference will contribute to spreading the culture of coexistence and confronting hate speech and violence promoted by some extremist groups. The conference will present various activities in jurisprudence, coexistence, and increasing awareness. In November, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi called for a collective action at the regional and international levels to confront hate speech and extremism with the participation of various religious institutions to spread the values of peace. The Minister of Endowments, Mohammad Mukhtar Juma, discussed with Egypts Ambassador to the UN Ihab Gamaleldin the ministrys efforts in spreading moderate thoughts inside and outside the country. The ministry issued a statement indicating that the meeting dealt with awareness-raising efforts in the field of human rights and contributions to community service. They also discussed means to benefit from the ministrys efforts to confront extremist ideology and the Egyptian experience in consolidating the foundations of equal citizenship, the jurisprudence of coexistence, and the joint work between female preachers and nuns. Egypt’s training program “Ambassadors of Love and Peace” continues to spread the values of tolerance while strengthening the foundations of coexistence and citizenship. The program is organized by the National Council for Women in the country for female endowment preachers and nuns. Awqaf sources confirmed that the program aims to integrate female preachers and nuns in a joint work to help the society accept diversity and difference, confront extremism and terrorism, and raise awareness on the correct concepts of religions. Female preachers and nuns also participated in the “together in the service of the nation" initiative in a number of Egyptian governorates. The convoys aimed at consolidating respect, appreciation, and protection of religions, as well as enhancing skills in the field of spreading citizenship and coexistence, while they try to eliminate the knowledge gap related to the teachings of religions.
