RIYADH — Saudi Arabia ranked among the top 10 countries in terms of digital literacy in the Global Competitiveness Report for the year 2020 issued by the World Economic Forum. The WEF report this year focused on how countries adapted to the changes brought by the coronavirus pandemic. Taking note of the remarkable progress Saudi Arabia has made, the report attributes the high ranking to four factors represented in the Kingdom"s adoption of information and communication technology, and its flexible work arrangements, in addition to its national digital skills and the digital legal framework it possesses. “The crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic should serve as a wake-up call for countries that need to embrace the digitalization process, incentivize companies to move towards digital business models, and invest in ICT development and digital skills,” the report noted. Saudi Arabia has also won an award from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for its women empowerment program in technology.
