CITC inks pacts with 3 IT giants to enhance digital transformation

RIYADH — The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) has signed three memoranda of understanding (MoU) in the fields of communications and information technology with major global telecommunications technology providers — Ericsson, Nokia, and Huawei. The MoUs aim to support and enhance CITC’s plans and goals to enable the Kingdom’s digital transformation, and Saudize technologies in accordance with the latest international practices. It will also strengthen the Kingdom’s digital economy and information communication technology talent ecosystem. The Commission was represented in the signing of the MoU by Deputy Governor for the Corporate Support Sector Ahmed Al-Jarboa, while the three companies were represented by Mathias Johanssons, CEO of Ericsson, Khaled Hussein, director of the Nokia branch in Saudi Arabia, and Terry He, CEO of Huawei Tech Investment Saudi Arabia. The signing ceremony was held in the presence of CITC Governor Dr. Muhammad Al-Tamimi. CITC stated that the MoUs included areas of cooperation in international organizations for communication standards, holding specialized training programs for the CITC employees, in addition to participating in international workshops. There is also a provision in the deal for organizing seminars and educational and training programs specialized in modern technologies, artificial intelligence, cloud computing and other areas.
