DUBAI: Although the COVID-19 pandemic has restricted international travel this year, model Shanina Shaik has managed to get in her fair share of trips abroad. Although it is unclear whether the catwalk star is traveling for work or for personal reasons, she seems to be enjoying her first few days in the West African country. The Victoria’s Secret model shared a short clip with her 2.2 million Instagram followers on her Stories section showing the streets of Accra, the capital of Ghana. On her first night, the Melbourne-born beauty wore a black thigh-length dress by London-based brand Rat & Boa. The 29-year-old model accessorized her look with hoop earrings, matching bracelets, a gold chain necklace and a sparkling diamond ring. Her hair was slicked back in a bun to highlight her signature simple makeup look — smoked out eyes, a light dusting of bronzer on the cheek bones and a rose-tinged pout. Earlier this year, Shaik spent some time in Ibiza where she was self-isolating with her partner, London-based company director Seyed Payam Mirtorabi. Last month, she revealed she was preparing for lockdown in London after her return from Cyprus. In a series of Instagram Stories she shared at the time, Shaik opened up about inability to return to Los Angeles since the start of the pandemic. “If you guys don’t know, I actually live in the US and I can’t even go back,” she said. “And I don’t know when I’ll be able to go back to my home… also, I’m unable to go back to Melbourne to see my family and I don’t know when I will be able to see them again. And I’m by myself here (in London) right now.” She continued, “I know it’s a really rough year for everybody else and there’s a lot going on, and people are losing their jobs and it’s completely unfair.” The model’s trip to Ghana has sparked some concern online as the country is in the grip of the pandemic. As of Dec. 28, Ghana had a total of 54,401 coronavirus cases, with around 890 reported active cases.
