RIYADH — Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sanad, head of the Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, said that the commission has dispensed with hundreds of employees after reports confirmed that they belonged to the extremist ideology. “The Commission has ensured 99 percent error correction in the fieldwork,” he said in an interview with Al-Arabiya Television. Sheikh Al-Sanad said that Al-Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood, and Daesh (the so-called ISIS) are the Kharijites of the era. “The Kharijites were the biggest seditionists in the history of Muslims. One of its features is that it continues to exist and whenever it fades, it resurfaces again,” he said. Sheikh Al-Sanad explained that the main reason for the occurrence of violations in the fieldwork of the commission in the past was the lack of understanding of the jurisprudence with regard to the promotion of virtue and prevention of vice, stressing that the fieldwork does not mean tracking down and prosecuting. The commission chief pointed out that the Muslim Brotherhood has penetrated into Islamic societies, including the Saudi society. “Our work is currently organized and committed to the Shariah and the purposes and rules of Shariah. The work of the commission today is to clarify the meaning of the unity of ranks and the defense of the homeland after it had been absent earlier,” he added.
