On the other hand, The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) with its unique architecture rises as a shining beacon of knowledge in Dhahran’s skyline. The building, which is an initiative by Saudi Aramco, is located near the Prosperity Well where oil was first discovered in commercial quantities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The purpose of this ambitious initiative is to accelerate the Kingdom’s transformation into a knowledge-based economy as envisioned by King Abdullah who laid the foundation stone for this iconic building. The Ithra and Scitech centers agree that they provide dissemination of knowledge, stimulate creativity, and satisfy the curiosity of innovation, and that they live to achieve the principles of "a society for knowledge". They also hope to mix fun with discovery in all activities for children, in addition to presenting scientific days addressed to specialists in scientific fields, and hobbyists of scientific clubs. — SG
