Jan 7 (Reuters) - Canada’s main stock index opened higher on Thursday, on bets of expanded U.S. stimulus package to aid economic recovery after Democrats took control of the Senate. * At 9:33 a.m. ET (1433 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index was up 132 points, or 0.74%, at 17,960.11.
