RIYADH — A Saudi medical team was forced to use mobile phone torches to complete the surgical operation of a Yemeni citizen after a power outage hit the Mokalla governorate in Yemen. Dr. Madani Issa, the consultant pediatric surgeon and member of the Saudi medical team staying in Yemen, said that the medical team mobilized all its resources and swang into action to complete the surgery when the power went off while the operation was underway. “Some members of the team used their mobile phone torches to provide light while others performed mouth-to-mouth breathing to keep the patient alive as the anesthesia machine stopped working,” he said adding that the medical team explored all the possibilities to carry out the mission successfully while fighting against the odds.
