RIYADH — Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Nayef Mubarak Al-Hajraf held on Tuesday a meeting with Yemeni President Abd-Rabbo Mansour Hadi. A-Hajraf reiterated the GCC countries’ firm stance regarding support to legitimate rule to end the Yemeni crisis through a political solution based on the three references: The Gulf initiative, national dialogue outcomes, and United Nations Security Council resolution 2216. The GCC chief commended the new Yemeni government’s efforts, led by Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik Saeed, to achieve stability and development in the liberated governorates. Meanwhile, the Yemeni president praised the major efforts exerted by the GCC to ensure the safety, security, unity, and stability of Yemen, underscoring its support for the political process and achieving peace. Hadi also hailed the Saudi-led Arab coalition and its political and military stances that “stem from the spirit of Arabism and shared destiny in confronting Iran’s expansion in the region.” The GCC chief and the Yemeni president also reviewed the recent formation of a Yemeni power-sharing government and its return to Aden to assume its duties in line with the Riyadh Agreement. The meeting was attended by GCC Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Negotiation and other officials. — SG
