Sputnik V is the third vaccine to be approved by the UAE, after the Sinopharm and Pfizer-BioNTech jabs, and would also become part of the country’s effort to prevent the spread of the virus. The Gulf state hosted the third phase of clinical trials for Sputnik V, developed by the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology and Russia"s health ministry. The UAE has been witnessing an increased number of daily cases, with a record high of 3,506 new infections registered on Wednesday.
