DUBAI: It’s award show season, without the award shows. Normally during this time of year, our feeds would be overflowing with glamorous red carpet get-ups, dress fittings and behind-the-scenes looks at A-listers getting ready for the major events that January brings with it. For the latest updates, follow us on Instagram @arabnews.lifestyle But due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, most award shows have been postponed, canceled or turned into a virtual affair. However, that didn’t stop model and cookbook author Chrissy Teigen from stepping out in a full couture look by Zuhair Murad ahead of the coyly-coined “nothing awards.” The 35-year-old shared a witty post on Instagram this week, with a nod to the marked lack of events to go to in her caption. The photo depicts Teigen leaning against the wall dressed in a glamorous, one shouldered red gown from the Lebanese couturier’s Fall 2019 couture collection. The flowy dress boasted a thigh-high slit while feather details adorned the neckline. The Ras Baalbek-born designer, who is beloved by the likes of superstars Jennifer Lopez, Priyanka Chopra and Celine Dion, unveiled his Fall 2019 couture collection in July 2019. Inspired by a trip to Morocco, the collection was punctuated with traditional North African rug patterns and different tile designs, hand-beaded jackets and bejeweled, sequined silk chiffon and taffeta. Though the dress was plucked from seasons past, it’s worth remembering that Murad has opted out of participating in Paris Haute Couture Week this season, due to putting his operations on hold while the coronavirus outbreak continues to wreak havoc on the fashion industry. Teigen elevated the look with bold, gem-encrusted earrings. All dressed up with nowhere to go, the mother-of-two captioned the post: “Fitting for the nothing awards.” Teigen is a loyal fan of the Beirut-based fashion house and often looks to the designer to dress her for important events. Who can forget the 87th Academy Awards, when the model opted for a heavily-beaded gown that boasted a sleeved bodice and a skirt with a thigh-high split? Just weeks before that, Teigen attended the Golden Globe Awards ceremony wearing a blush pink dress by Zuhair Murad.
