Raed Al-Idrissi was appointed acting CEO of the Saudi Ground Services (SGS) in January 2021. SGS is the driving force behind the efficient, safe, and courteous ground handling of passengers and aircraft at all airports in Saudi Arabia. Al-Idrissi, an alumnus of the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, holds an executive MBA and a bachelor’s degree in marketing and industrial management. He has a wide-ranging experience extending over 20 years, varying between ground service operations and project management of complex and dynamic environments focused on aviation and energy. Prior to his current role, he was the executive vice president for operations at SGS. He is known for being a results-oriented leader, with exceptional communication and team-building skills. During the coronavirus pandemic when ground-handling operations were suspended, SGS under Al-Idrissi’s leadership capitalized on new opportunities, introducing disinfection services and the expansion of cleaning operations. SGS was able to expand its market share to 96 percent during the pandemic — emerging in an even stronger position than before. Al-Idrissi started his career with Saudi Aramco in 2001. He worked in various positions in the company. In every role that he was assigned, he left his mark. Most significantly, he achieved a record cost avoidance of $250 million through financial analysis and excellent negotiations, and well-drafted competitive bidding.
