AL-BAHA — The people in the village of Al-Qawareer in Al-Qura governorate of Al-Baha region mourned the death of Umm Ismail, a Filipino nurse, who died a few days ago after her arrival in her homeland. The villagers expressed their deep sorrow over the loss of a caring and loving health worker whom they considered as more than a family member. Majed Al-Shatti, spokesman of the Health Department in Al-Baha region, confirmed the death of the Filipino nurse Stridimi, who was famous among the villagers of Al-Qawareer as Umm Ismail. He said that the Health Department of Al-Baha and all its employees offered their condolences to her bereaved family members. She had served as a nursing technician for nearly 40 years at the primary healthcare center of Al-Qawareer in the Al-Baha region. “Umm Ismail was a nurse, who was supportive and a helping hand to all villagers who visit the healthcare center. She was a loving health practitioner for all the villagers. She won the appreciation and accolades of her colleagues too,” he said, adding that the villagers who visited the health center were eager to know about her and continued to communicate with her, even after the end of her work contract last year. It is noteworthy that Umm Ismail suffered a stroke while she was doing her work at the healthcare center, and was subsequently transferred to a hospital where her health worsened after suffering from kidney failure. This prompted the villagers to collect an amount of SR25,000 and present it to her as a gift in appreciation of her selfless service and extra care for the outpatients. Umm Ismail decided to return to the Philippines to continue her treatment in the presence of her family members and relatives. She left the Kingdom a few weeks ago and breathed her last a couple of days after joining her family members back home.
