JEDDAH — The Saudi International continues to prove its presence and value in the world of golf as one of the most important international tournaments in the European Tour, which is a major achievement in just three years, said Yasir Al-Rumayyan, chairman of Golf Saudi and the Saudi Golf Federation, on Wednesday. Speaking during a press conference on the eve of the tournament’s launch, Al-Rumayyan said Golf Saudi keeps pace with the Kingdom"s Vision 2030, as it started with the establishment of the Aramco Saudi Ladies International presented by the Public Investment Fund and the Saudi Ladies Team International last November. He added that the "Ladies First" initiative was launched, during which 1,000 free memberships were offered to women to try out and practice golf around the Kingdom. The third edition of the tournament, which begins on Thursday at Royal Greens Golf and Country Club in King Abdullah Economic City, and will continue until Feb. 7, is part of the European Tour, with prizes amounting to $3,500,000. Fans will not be allowed to attend the tournament, in the implementation of precautionary measures due to the outbreak of the novel of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
