MoH: 330% surge in coronavirus infections while critical cases up by 41%

Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdel Ali, spokesman of the Ministry of Health, said on Tuesday that the curve of confirmed cases of coronavirus continues to soar by 330 percent from the day when the lowest level of cases was reported until this date. There has been an increase of 41 percent in the critical cases, he said while addressing the daily press conference to brief on the latest coronavirus situation. The spokesman said that the number of those who have received the vaccine so far has reached 443,805, while the total number of confirmed cases in the Kingdom rose to 370987 with 353 fresh cases on Tuesday. He underlined the need to cooperate with the relevant authorities and to report about violators of the precautionary measures and preventive protocols. Attending the press conference, Dr. Ahmed Qattan, deputy minister of municipal and rural affairs and housing, said that a total of 3,000 establishments have been closed down for committing coronavirus protocol violations during the period from Feb. 2 to 8. “The ministry officials carried out as many as 84,000 field visits on restaurants, markets and commercial establishments in various regions of the Kingdom during the period. These inspections have resulted in the detection of more than 13,000 violations,” he said, while noting that these include mainly the violation of health protocols. Dr. Qattan said that the field teams inspected more than 34,000 residences where 1.72 million workers are living. “More than 84,000 workers have been transferred to alternative housing facilities, and over 17,900 isolation rooms have been provided for the workers, and all these contributed to creating more than 160,000 licensed housing facilities,” he added
