RIYADH — The Arab Coalition on Thursday intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile and an explosive-laden drone launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia toward Saudi Arabia. The drone attack, which followed a ballistic missile launch, targeted civilians and civilian facilities in the southern region of the Kingdom while the missile was fired toward southwestern Saudi city of Khamis Mushait, according to the spokesman of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, Brig. Gen Turki Al-Maliki. The Houthis targeted Khamis Mushait early Thursday too with an armed drone, which was successfully intercepted and destroyed by the coalition forces. Commenting on the missile attack, the spokesman said: “The Houthis are deliberately targeting civilians and civilian facilities, warning “the coalition will continue to undertake all necessary procedures to neutralize and destroy the advanced conventional weapon capabilities of the terrorist militia.” “The coalition will also hold the terrorist elements responsible for planning and executing such acts of terror to account in accordance with the customary international humanitarian law," he added.
