KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait will close its sea and land border crossings as well and suspend dine-in services inside restaurants and cafes for more than three weeks amid a spike in new coronavirus cases in the country. The decision, which was taken by the Kuwaiti Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on Monday, will come into effect on Wednesday (Feb. 24) and will continue until March 20. The move, however, exempts citizens who wish to return along with their "first-degree" relatives and domestic workers. According to the Cabinet decision, customers" presence inside restaurants and cafes, including those located at the shopping malls, will be banned. However, delivery services will be allowed. The Kuwaiti Cabinet has assigned the ministry of interior and the customs directorate to implement the decision. The cabinet has also formed a joint commission headed by the interior ministry. It will group health ministry and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and will be tasked with overseeing the mechanism of enforcing the institutional quarantine on all arrivals in the country.
