RIYADH — Saudi Arabia"s Ministry of Health revealed that no specific centers are designated for administering each of the two anti-coronavirus vaccines — Pfizer-BioNTech or AstraZeneca — but rather both of them will be given in most of the vaccination centers. The ministry said this in a statement on its Twitter account while replying to queries from the public. Referring to the query about the interval exceeding two months between the first and second doses of the vaccine, the ministry confirmed that the vaccination dates for the second dose of the coronavirus vaccine will be decided for the beneficiaries on the basis of the type of vaccine administered to them. The “Health 937” Center at the ministry said in its tweet: “Recent studies indicate that the efficacy of vaccines is positively affected by an increase in the period of interval between the first and second doses, and based on scientific updates, the dates are calculated on the basis of the type of vaccine administered,” it said. The ministry stressed that all vaccines are safe and protect against severe complications and death from COVID-19. The vaccine can be given to those aged 18 years and above, the ministry said adding that the elderly people aged 65 years and above are considered as among the target groups for taking the vaccine.
