LONDON: A leading French theatre director was stabbed in the throat on Wednesday outside his hotel in Montpellier, officials said. Alain Francon, 76, was seriously injured in the attack and was taken to hospital after an ambulance arrived. The well-known director has been teaching at the National School of Dramatic Arts since mid-February and living in the city"s historic central district, a source said. Francon is one of the country"s best-known directors and founded the Theatre Eclate ("Shattered Theatre") troupe in the town of Annecy in the 1970s.
