RIYADH — The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf affirmed that the position of the GCC states is consistent in rejecting all forms of the racial discrimination. In a statement on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, which falls on March 21, Dr. Al-Hajraf said that the declaration of human rights by the GCC is based on the belief of the GCC states respecting the human dignity, preserving human rights and adhering to the principles established by the Islamic Shariah to safeguard the human right, defeat of all forms of the racial discrimination and establish the principle of equality for all. He pointed out that the GCC states have a distinguished and rich record in combating all forms of the racial discrimination, as they joined the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, acted according to the provisions of this international convention, developed their legislative system in order to achieve unifying efforts and take the necessary measures to eliminate all forms of racial discrimination. Al-Hajraf praised the efforts made by the GCC states in light of the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, to provide care and treatment to all citizens and residents on their territories without any discrimination or exception. — SPA
