Yemeni FM Visits Kuwait to Mobilize Political, Economic Support

Yemeni Foreign Minister Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak met in Kuwait Wednesday his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Ahmad Nasser al-Sabah, according to official sources. The two officials reviewed the deep-rooted ties between the two countries and the latest developments in Yemen in light of the international efforts to push the political process forward. They also addressed the Houthis’ rejection of all peace initiatives, prolonging Yemenis suffering, according to Saba news. Bin Mubarak stressed the importance of activating the joint ministerial committee between the two countries, which will contribute to the economic recovery process. He also addressed the importance of establishing a political consultation committee to unify visions and political and diplomatic efforts on regional and international issues. The sources indicated that the Kuwaiti FM reiterated his country’s support for Yemens legitimate government, unity, and territorial integrity. Sabah indicated that Kuwait continues to support all efforts to restore security and stability in Yemen aiming to reach a peaceful solution. He also affirmed Kuwaits readiness to provide the necessary support to Yemen in the various developmental and economic sectors, asserting the importance of holding the meeting of the joint ministerial technical committee this year. Bin Mubarak also met with the Director-General of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, Bader al-Saad, and the two discussed financing development projects in Yemen that could contribute to economic recovery. The minister lauded the role of the Fund and its support to the development process and economic recovery, asserting the Yemeni governments keenness to overcome the difficulties and provide the necessary facilities to ensure project implementation. Later, the Yemeni official met with the Director of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, Abdulwahab al-Badr, and the two discussed mechanisms for enhancing cooperation between Yemen and the Fund to finance development and reconstruction projects. The official sources stated that the minister applauded the Funds efforts in financing development projects in Yemen during the past six decades. He also lauded the funds keenness to continue supporting projects for basic services. Badr affirmed that the Fund is ready to resume financing projects in Yemen, noting that it signed agreements with the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation to finance a number of development projects that contribute to restoring the economy and support recovery and reconstruction.
