RIYADH: The Muslim World League (MWL) has signed a key memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Malaysia in a bid to combat terrorism and promote peaceful relations between Muslim countries. It came after the secretary-general of the organization, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa, received Dr. Dhul-Kifl Mohammed Al-Bakri, Malaysia’s minister of Islamic affairs, and his accompanying delegation in Riyadh on Sunday. The two parties oversaw the signing of the new agreement, which includes the activation of the Makkah MoU signed in Malaysia through a joint comprehensive plan and timeline. The new document will be transferred to Malaysian communication authorities, where it will be distributed to the media and academic institutions. Both parties will seek to include principles outlined in the agreement in the educational curriculum, and make it available to Malaysian religious organizations. As part of the agreement, the two parties will organize joint activities including conferences, seminars and panel discussions. The MoU also aims to promote Arabic language and culture in Malaysia. Al-Bakri hailed the efforts of Al-Issa to move beyond the borders of the Muslim world to promote peace across the world. The head of the Malaysian delegation honored Al-Issa by offering him the Malaysian Peace Award for his work in service of Muslim affairs.
