RIYADH — The first edition of “Derayah” to foster civilized communication with a focus on participation of delegations in international forums was launched on Sunday. The Salam Project for Cultural Communication is organizing the national program with the participation of 16 government agencies. The program aims to develop the talents and capabilities of young Saudis to participate in regional and international forums and events, and provide them with knowledge and skills in the intellectual fields. It also enhances their empowerment and provides a positive and influential presence in their international participation so as to present their visions and ideas in the field of civilized communication clinically in order to boost the positive image of Saudi Arabia, through specific programs and activities for communication in different societies and cultures. The Derayah program targets those tasked to represent Saudi Arabia in international forums such as conferences, symposiums, exhibitions and other participation. The program, which will be held over a period of four days, includes interactive meetings, workshops, brainstorming sessions, practical applications, exchanges of experiences, and review of practical experiences aimed at identifying and benefiting from these experiences. This is in addition to understanding the nature of the challenges associated with participation in foreign countries, finding solutions and alternatives to overcome difficulties in a practical manner with the participation of a group of specialists and experts in the fields of civilized communication. The first edition of Derayah program is one for building capacities for cultural communication, after the program of training young leaders for global communication, which was implemented by Salam Project for Cultural Communication in previous editions over a period of three years with the aim of contributing to highlighting Kingdom’s positive image. This is by representing the Kingdom in international forums, presenting the image of Saudi Arabia and its human and civilized achievements, and clarifying its contributions in the areas of coexistence, peace and civilized communication, in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. The Salam Project is a Saudi initiative that aims to promote mutual understanding between Saudi people and the rest of the world by opening communication channels on all aspects of cultural life. It is an attempt to face many issues that have stopped the flow of communication and understanding between Saudi Arabia and the world beyond. It is an honest and safe forum for open discussion and positive exchange both for Saudis and non-Saudis alike.
